The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (CDN)

The most highly rated peer-reviewed, primary research journal in nutrition and dietetics, The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (CDN) publishes the latest research on topics in nutrition, such as obesity, vitamins and minerals, nutrition and disease, and energy metabolism.

Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication

Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication

The Journal of Communication (JOC) is the flagship journal of the International Communication Association and an essential publication for all communication specialists and policy makers. The Journal of Communication concentrates on communication research, practice, policy, and theory, bringing to its readers the latest, broadest, and most important findings in the field of communication studies. Journal of Communication also features an extensive book review section, and the symposia of selected studies on current issues.

JCOM: JOURNAL OF SCIENCE COMMUNICATION

jcom.sissa.it

JCOM, the Journal of Science Communication, is an open-access journal dedicated to exploring the many sides of science communication. As the editors explain, they are interested in "importance of communicative processes into science's development and the dynamics of contemporary knowledge societies." This includes issues examining how scientists - as well as journalists and government/NGO officials - communicate scientific developments to the public, exploring interdisciplinary work between scientists and experts of other disciplines, and examining how members of the general public engage with science. Published quarterly since 2002, each issue of the journal includes a number of articles relating to a particular theme, accompanied by an editorial. JCOM content also includes Book Reviews, Essays, and shorter Comments. Recent issues have explored the theme of trust in science communication and the rising trend of citizen science projects, where members of the general public are invited to participate in research.

bmcmededuc.biomedcentral.com

Part of the extensive BioMed Central collection of journals, BMC Medical Education is an open access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to issues in all stages of medical education, including undergraduate studies, graduate studies, and continuing education for medical professionals. This journal will be of interest to those in academia as well as those broadly interested in the medical field, as journal articles address a broad array of issues, such as medical school curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment. Recent articles include a discussion about using student questions to identify scientific misconceptions, an analysis about the need to train doctors to prescribe medicine, and an examination of licensing tests used in different countries. Visitors to this website can browse the most recently published and most popular articles, or search for articles by keyword. BMC Medical Education is edited by an international team of scholars and is regularly updated. [MMB] >From The Scout Report, Copyright Internet Scout Project 1994-2016. http://scout.wisc.edu/

Frontiers in Chemistry

Online, free access: http://www.frontiersin.org/Chemistry

Frontiers in Chemistry is a field journal of the "Frontiers in" journal series.

Chemistry is a branch of science that is linked to all other main fields of research. The omnipresence of Chemistry is apparent in our everyday lives from the electronic devices that we all use to communicate, to foods we eat, to our health and well-being, to the different forms of energy that we use. While there are many subtopics and specialties of Chemistry, the fundamental link in all these areas is how atoms, ions, and molecules come together and come apart in what some have come to call the “dance of life”.

All specialty sections of Frontiers in Chemistry are open-access with the goal of publishing outstanding research publications, review articles, commentaries, and ideas about various aspects of Chemistry. The past forms of publication often have specific subdisciplines, most commonly of analytical, inorganic, organic and physical chemistries, but these days those lines and boxes are quite blurry and the silos of those disciplines appear to be eroding. Chemistry is important to both fundamental and applied areas of research and manufacturing, and indeed the outlines of academic versus industrial research are also often artificial. Collaborative research across all specialty areas of Chemistry is highly encouraged and supported as we move forward. These are exciting times and the field of Chemistry is an important and significant contributor to our collective knowledge.

Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology

Online, free access: http://www.frontiersin.org/Cellular_and_Infection_Microbiology

Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology is a specialty journal of the "Frontiers in" journal series.

It stems from the tremendous success of the original Specialty Section of the same name of Frontiers in Microbiology. The new Specialty Journal Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology will keep publishing major and in-depth research findings focused on host-microbe interactions that decipher these interactions from a molecular, biochemical, cell biological or immunological perspective. In addition, molecular bases of microbial pathogenic evolution and adaptation to the host will be considered. Studies should advance our knowledge of the field and the mechanisms involved in host-microbe interaction. Understanding mechanisms of host-microbe interactions shall eventually contribute to the development of new therapies and vaccines.

Studies must focus on microbes involved in intimate modulation/exploitation of host cell processes and immune responses. The microbes include pathogenic bacteria, pathogenic parasites, resident microbiota or endosymbionts. Studies on pathogenic viruses and fungi may also be submitted to the respective Specialty Sections of Frontiers in Microbiology related to these areas of studies. The eukaryotic hosts involved can be vertebrate or invertebrate animals, plants or unicellular. One of our major purposes is to accelerate scientific communication of high quality research findings, with worldwide open and free access to these findings. Our approach will stimulate research activity and advance scientific knowledge in this field and related ones throughout the world.
